Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of The Analyst (the "Service"), operated by PolyApps AI ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy and Refund Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. What the Service is

The Analyst groups news headlines by story and shows how outlets across the political spectrum cover them. It reads public RSS feeds (headlines and short summaries) and links you to the original publisher. It is a comparison and media-literacy tool. It is not a news publisher, a fact-check of any individual story, or professional, legal or financial advice.

2. Ratings and AI features are opinions and tools, not facts

• Political-lean, factuality and ownership ratings are The Analyst's own editorial assessments of outlets as a whole, reviewed periodically. They are one opinion, may be wrong or out of date, and are not statements of fact about any outlet.
• AI features, when enabled, can produce inaccurate or incomplete answers. Check important information against the original sources.
• The markets overview shows prices from Yahoo Finance. They are delayed, may contain errors, and are for information only. Nothing in the Service is investment, tax or legal advice, and you should not trade on it.

3. Accounts

You must be at least 18. Give accurate information, keep your password secret, and tell us promptly if you think your account was accessed without permission. One account is for one person; do not share your login. You are responsible for activity under your account.

4. Subscription, free trial and billing

• Price: $19.95 per year, plus any taxes that apply, billed once a year.
• Free trial: when a trial is offered (currently 7 days for new subscribers), a payment card is required to start it. Nothing is charged during the trial. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your card is charged automatically on the trial end date. A trial is offered once per customer.
• Automatic renewal: the subscription renews every year at the then-current price until you cancel. We email a reminder before renewal.
• Cancelling: sign in and choose Manage billing at any time. Cancelling stops future charges; you keep access until the end of the period you already paid for. Cancelling during a free trial means you are not charged.
• Price changes: if we change the price, we will tell you at least 30 days before it applies to your next renewal, and you can cancel before then.
• Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. If a payment fails we may pause access until it succeeds.
• Refunds are described in the Refund Policy.

5. Acceptable use

Do not: copy, scrape, resell or redistribute the Service or its data in bulk; share your login or work around the paywall; attempt to break, overload or probe the Service's security; use it for anything unlawful; or use it to harass others. Feeds you add yourself must be ones you are allowed to read, and you are responsible for the ratings you assign them.

6. Content and ownership

Headlines, summaries and articles belong to their publishers and are shown only to help you find and compare coverage; follow the links to read the full story at the source. The Analyst's software, design, ratings and original text belong to us. We grant you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the Service for your own use while your account is active.

7. Third-party services

The Service relies on providers including Stripe (payments), Resend (email), Anthropic or Google (AI answers, when enabled), Yahoo Finance (market data and headlines) and our hosting provider. Their availability and terms are outside our control.

8. Availability and disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". News feeds change or fail without notice, so we do not promise uninterrupted service or that every story, outlet or rating is complete, current or error-free. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

10. Ending your use

You may stop using the Service and cancel at any time. We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms or puts the Service or other users at risk; if we end a paid account without cause, we will refund the unused part of the period.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For material changes we will give notice by email or in the app at least 30 days before they apply to you. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the updated terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Courts in Florida have jurisdiction, except where the law of your country gives you the right to bring a claim locally.
